THE LIVERMORE URBAN GROWTH BOUNDARY.   It's worth defending.

Since 2002, the North Livermore Urban Growth Boundary has successfully prevented urban expansion into open spaces and agricultural regions north of the city (lower photo). Livermore is fully bounded by an Urban Growth Boundary. The City of Dublin, however, lacks an Urban Growth Boundary on its eastern side, resulting in runaway urban sprawl spreading across the hills north of I-580 (upper photo).

Pacific Union (a developer) is asking Dublin to annex Doolan Canyon so that Pacific Union can build a gated community of 1400 homes. Read about how Friends of Livermore has joined forces with a groundswell of community groups dedicated to preserving the open spaces of Doolan Canyon as an unspoiled greenbelt, wildlife corridor, and home to several threatened and endangered species of animals and plants.
